The Chill Project:

Founded in 2012, The Chill Project is a distinguished multigenerational band based in New Haven, Connecticut, specializing in a rich fusion of Smooth Jazz, Funk, and Old School R&B. The ensemble comprises eight talented instrumentalists and a lead singer.

Our members have played, recorded and toured extensively with such groups as Wood, Brass, and Steel, Black Ivory, The Black Rock Coalition, The SugarHill Gang, and the Smyrk.

They have opened for Jazz Legend Thelonious Monk Ill and for internationally acclaimed five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper at Yale University Woolsey Hall. Lead vocalist Doron Monk Flake, who also performs with Model Decoy and Westchester County's Naked Soul Band, contributes to the band's eclectic sound and dedication to excellence.

The Chill Project is committed to cultivating musical talent in the community, exemplified through its mentorship initiatives. The band hosts Jazz Jams in partnership with the Monk Youth Jazz and STEAM Collective, Inc., a non-profit founded by Marcella Monk Flake. These events provide a platform for aspiring young musicians to hone their skills and engage with seasoned professionals.

Fridays's performers are Clifton McClean on sax, Cedric Herbert on guitar, Dudley Flake on keyboard, Doron Monk Flake as lead vocalist, and special guest Ms. Chavon Hampton, a New Haven native with musical roots in gospel and significant musical theater experience.
